A family quartet consisting of lifelong barbershoppers, Don't Tell Mom is the 2016 Far Western District Quartet Champions. The bass, David Haedtler, discovered barbershop as a teenager, and began bringing his sons Patrick and Jordan to rehearsals of the local barbershop chorus in San Jose as soon as they were old enough to make it through a rehearsal. Patrick and Jordan became two of the youngest members to ever join the San Jose Garden City Chorus, and became especially interested in quarteting after seeing a performance by the 1996 International Champions Nightlife. Nightlife's tenor, Rob Menaker, was also introduced to barbershop music at an early age by his dad. Patrick moved to southern California for college, and started singing with Rob in the Masters of Harmony. Meanwhile, David and Jordan were singing together in a quartet called Uncalled Four. When Uncalled Four's tenor volunteered to sing with Patrick, David, and Jordan at a regional quartet competition, Don't Tell Mom was officially formed, with David on bass, Patrick on lead, and Jordan on baritone. Various friends have filled in on tenor over the years, and Rob joined the quartet in 2013. Rob and Patrick also sing together in Masterpiece, the 2013 International Quartet Champions. Although the four members of Don't Tell Mom are scattered across the country (David lives in the Bay Area, Rob in Phoenix, Patrick in Orange County, and Jordan in DC), they make a habit of rehearsing and performing during barbershop shows, family reunions, birthdays, and holidays.
