John joined the Barbershop Society in 1977, when he was 14, and competed in his first contest three weeks later!

He has sung in many quartets, was active in musical theater, and, before joining Nightlife , was the replacement lead of the 1964 International Quartet Champions, the Sidewinders . John, a Southern Californian by birth, holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University, and now lives in Utah.

He is the owner of Rocky Mountain Recycling, a paper collection and brokerage company in Salt Lake City.
